OUSSAMA MHANNA Conductor Music Director

Oussama Mhanna is a Lebanese choir and orchestra conductor based in Paris. He leads Ensemble Dynamique, a collective of singers, instrumentalists, and composers he founded in 2020, dedicated to contemporary music creation and interdisciplinary projects. Since September 2024, he has also served as the conductor of the Chœur Varenne.

Driven by a strong artistic openness and a deep curiosity for cross-disciplinary creation, he has collaborated with a wide range of international festivals and cultural institutions. His projects have brought him to the Comédie de Genève, the Festival d’Automne in Paris, the Triennale di Milano, the Fondation Cartier, Baalbeck International Festival, the European Space Agency (ESA), the Maison Hermès, among others. His work often bridges different artistic worlds, allowing him to develop performances that transcend traditional categories and explore new modes of collective expression.

He holds a conducting diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris and a choral conducting diploma from the Accademia Direttori di Coro in Palermo. He has collaborated with various ensembles in France and abroad, including the Orchestra Giovanile Mediterranea in Palermo, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy, the Orchestre Lamoureux, United Strings of Europe, the Jeune Chœur de Paris – Accentus, Coro Regina Pacis, Gruppo Vocale Euphone, and the Paris Mozart Orchestra, among others.

His repertoire is broad and diverse, ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary works, both vocal and orchestral.

Deeply committed to musical outreach, he is a partner musician with Pax Musica, associate music director of the orchestral academy Musique au fil de l’Indre, and has been conducting within the Orchestre à l’École program since 2022. He directed the university project Hamilton Rise Up in 2021 and 2022 at Paris-Sorbonne University, and regularly leads ensemble workshops in middle and high schools across the Île-de-France region in collaboration with the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France and the Paris Mozart Orchestra.

A self-taught pianist from the age of six, he earned a double Bachelor’s degree in Musicology and Music Education in 2014 from the Antonine University in Lebanon. He has taken part in numerous orchestral and choral conducting masterclasses with Nicolas Brochot, Adrian McDonnell, Ennio Nicotra, Enzo Marino, Martina Batič, Kaspars Putniņš, and Alberto Maniaci.

Through his work, he explores new ways of approaching choral and orchestral conducting, integrating forms and collaborations that go beyond traditional boundaries.

Oussama Mhanna est un chef de chœur et d’orchestre libanais basé à Paris. Il dirige l’Ensemble Dynamique, un collectif de chanteurs, instrumentistes et compositeurs qu’il a fondé en 2020, dédié à la création musicale contemporaine et aux projets interdisciplinaires. Depuis septembre 2024, il est également chef du Chœur Varenne.

Très ouvert à des projets novateurs, il a collaboré avec la Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain sur le projet Voci dal Mondo Reale, réunissant 80 chanteurs de dix pays à la Triennale de Milan puis à Paris. Il a également travaillé avec l’artiste Alessandro Sciarroni au Festival d’Automne à Paris ainsi que dans d'autres festivals européens, et a été chef de chœur pour une création de la chanteuse Pomme.

Engagé dans la transmission musicale, il est musicien partenaire de Pax Musica, directeur musical associé de l’Académie d’orchestre Musique au fil de l’Indre, et chef d’orchestre au sein du dispositif Orchestre à l’École depuis 2022. Il a dirigé le projet universitaire Hamilton Rise Up en 2021 et 2022 à l’Université Paris-Sorbonne, et mène régulièrement des ateliers de musique d’ensemble dans des collèges et lycées d’Île-de-France avec l’Orchestre national d’Île-de-France et le Paris Mozart Orchestra.

Après avoir commencé le piano en autodidacte à l’âge de 6 ans, il obtient en 2014 une licence de musique et musicologie, doublée d’une licence d’enseignement, à l’Université Antonine du Liban. Il a participé à de nombreuses masterclasses de direction d’orchestre et de chœur avec Nicolas Brochot, Adrian McDonnell, Ennio Nicotra, Enzo Marino, Martina Batič, Kaspars Putniņš et Alberto Maniaci.

À travers son travail, il explore de nouvelles façons d’aborder la direction chorale et orchestrale, en intégrant des formes et des collaborations qui dépassent les cadres traditionnels.
